HEX is the system used in computer applications (color codes), and is based on the combination of 3 basic colors (red, green and blue).

Pantone, on the other hand, defines exact pigment colors. The correspondence between the two color systems is approximate. What you will actually see depends on the calibration of the monitor (in RGB), so they can look very different.
